I first picked up a camera for travel in 2015. It was a way to explore with a small group of people in countries I felt uncomfortable travelling on my own. It opened my eyes to such beauty......people, cultures, countryside and camaraderie amongst my fellow travellers. This is a small collection of some of my favourites. Hover and click.

Air Project France
2024
Flying at 500' in a helicopter (with the doors off) over the salt marshes on the S coast of France near Aigues Mortes and Montpellier. Known as the Salin d'Aigues-Mortes, it is the largest salt marsh in the Mediterranean, producing about 500,000 tons of salt per year. Microscopic algae are found in the concentrated salt water giving the various hues by synthesizing beta-carotene to protect itself from the sun.
White Horses of Camargue
2024
The stocky Carmargue French or Cheval de Camargue horse is a traditional breed of working horse indigenous to the Camargue area in S France. For thousands of years, they lived wild in the harsh salt marshes and wetlands of the Rohne delta. They have been used to manage and herd bulls used for bull fighting that is still practiced in the region.
Colorado
2023
A September 2023 visit to Western Colorado proved to be a geologists dream. The Colorado National Monument national park is something not to be missed! The trip included a stay in Paonia, a visit to Hotchkiss and Grand Junction. Such beauty.
Telegraph Cove, BC
2023
...more to come August 2023 visit to the N end of Vancouver Island...whale watching, getting lost on logging roads and natural beauty
Ladakh, India
2023
A northern state of India between China and Kashmir. It has a stunning vastness to it. A polo match on my birthday was fun! Many temples visited including several festivals with monks in ceremonial costumes.
Bali
2022
There are many faces and facets to Bali and I only saw a small portion of it. Perhaps another visit is in store. It was a treat to be 'backstage' prior to a traditional dance in a village near Ubud.
Java
2022
Vocanos and temples dominate the horizon of this densely populated country. A history rich in Hindo-Buddhism and colonialism with the Dutch East India company in the late 1500's.
Mustang, Nepal
2022
Foreign visitors have been allowed in Mustang sine 1992, but Upper Mustang where this trip ventured is still regulated allowing ~500 visitors in a year. Raw natural beauty and ancient culture, monasteries and cliff hanger type of gravel (boulder) roads.
Yukon
2021
Dawson City and then a helicopter ride North to the Tombstone mountain range in the fall of 2021 was a beautiful first outing after Covid. We were above the tree line and camped for 3 nights in fall conditions. There were few animals at this height and this time of year. Fall colors were plentiful though.
Nepal
2017
Visiting Nepal after India was an interesting comparison...which is never wise to do but a natural human reaction. Parts of it felt like Canada with the mountains and sister city feel of Banff, AB to Pokhara. And...they have a thing for swings...
Rajasthan, India
2017
Meeting India for the first time was all about the people. I loved every minute of it. Sometimes overwhelming but I wasn't ready to leave.....
Morocco
2015
My first trip with camera in hand was Morocco. A country I have been fascinated by forever. The colors, the people, The landscape. It did not disappoint.
